No huge complaints
Former Tenant
Pros:
Good place in a great location. Walls were thick, but there was a dog or something that ran around the apartment above that I could hear all the time when visiting someone else’s apartment. Repairs were always quickly dealt with, and the staff was responsive and friendly. No pest issues despite living on top of so many restaurants.
Cons:
Definitely loud if you face the front of the building, but that’s what you get for living on Saint Mark’s; I didn’t mind the noise. I lived on the fifth floor and could definitely hear the sounds throughout the night, so if you’re noise sensitive stay away. Apartments facing the back on the building seemed to be a lot more quiet. Elevator would break sometimes and take a few days to get fixed which was pretty annoying, but life went on. AC would also break sometimes but would always be pretty quickly fixed. Both happened a handful of times after living two years there though.

Former Tenant
Pros:
Super is awesome Location is very convenient Nice natural lighting
Cons:
Property managers never respond Very loud neighbors Cigarette smoke in the building Heat and hot water go out too often Elevator doesn’t work often Laundry machines don’t work on every floor Constant renovations inside the building, very loud
Advice to owner:
Answer your emails, enforce the lease with terrible tenants that ruin it for the rest of us

Bad management, terrible tenants, nice staff!
Former Tenant
Pros:
Very tall ceilings, nice doorman, big windows
Cons:
Terrible management, bed neighbors, lots of parties, no real covid protocols. You hear EVERYTHING, neighbor walks and my plates rattle
Advice to owner:
Stop renting to students! Greystar bought the building a month after I moved in, completely changed the vibe. Drunk frat parties, maskless people wandering halls, cigar smoking inside.

Ceiling leaks due to unrepaired roof and neglectful owners (Greystar)
Former Tenant
Pros:
Great super and daily staff, floor level laundry and garbage disposal, spacious room layouts.
Cons:
Multiple leaks within the apartment for ~1year with mold. Landlords (old and new) have been notified but continually delay repairing the roof which is the source of the problem.
Advice to owner:
Fix your problems and actually respond to your tenants for once.

Nice building
Former Tenant
Pros:
A rare find for this block, 90s era updated. Card op laundry on every floor. Communal roof space. Elevator.
Cons:
Greystar bought the property. Very impersonal, days long waits to hear from them. Card operated laundry is pricey. Kitchens are very outdated, but at least they have dishwashers. ACs are old and built into wall - not central air like some listings say. Expensive to keep your apartment cool in the summer.
Advice to owner:
Better communication with your tenants.

Former Tenant
Pros:
Good location in middle of east village Rooftop for all tenants Laundry on each floor
Cons:
Some apartments can see right onto rooftop Not much furniture on rooftop Street has become a bit dirty since covid and a lot of young kids hang out outside it
