Really great building

I loved living in this building. The garbage was handled very well which I appreciate.

The heat was always either too much or not on at all which I think could be addressed

Not a great building
Former Tenant
Pros:
Great neighbors who lived there for many many years and amazing location
Cons:
Incompetent super, mice in the whole building, landlord didn’t give me or 2 others their security deposit back for no reason. Went to small claims court.
Advice to owner:
Fix the mice problem, train/get a new super, give deposits back

Do not live here
Former Tenant
Pros:
Excellent location in East Village
Cons:
Completely unresponsive landlord, had several issues with pests (mice twice, roaches once) — did almost nothing to help. Building not registered with the HPD as of July 2021 (they were notified in 2019). Had a non working fridge for almost 2 weeks.
Advice to owner:
Answer your phone and email. Send the extermination service when you say you will.

BEWARE OF MANAGEMENT
Former Tenant
Pros:
This building is quiet with nice neighbors.
Cons:
Management is absolutely AWFUL.
They don’t even have a store front...it’s a P.o. box. You can’t reach them by phone either. Their voice recording says that they are best reachable by email, but when I email them they don’t respond for months.
The super is unresponsive and rude. I’ve had my ceilings and walls leak with brown water 3x in just 8 months. Management refused to pay for the damages to my couch, carpet, and other belongings that were not able to be washed. The super is aware of this issue, he said that this always happens every few months. I had asked management to fix the source of this issue and I am still awaiting a response. I told the manager, Joseph Marin, that I will be filing a report with 311 and he truly did not care. Makes sense when I learned that this building has 30 open violations lol.
Also, the front door lock was broken for about a week and I had so many packages stolen. When I asked to see the camera footage from the lobby they told me it was a fake camera to “act as a deterrent” lmfao. A security camera is like $50 and they couldn’t even bother to do that.
I just had to move out, the management and landlord does not care about tenants in the slightest bit. I hope this review will help at least 1 person. Oh also forgot to mention, there’s a mice problem in the building.
Advice to owner:
please respond to your tenants and give back their security deposits
