Summarized from anonymous rental reviews on openigloo.
Recent renter feedback for CENTENNIAL PROPERTIES NY reveals a mixed management reputation. While some buildings are clean, with well-maintained common areas, modern appliances, and helpful supers, many tenants report unresponsivenessfrom management, delayed or ignored maintenance, and slow security deposit returns. Persistent issues include inefficient heat, pest infestations, trash management problems, and high staff turnover, contributing to safety and cleanliness concerns. Neighborhood atmospheres and noise vary widely. Renters advise the management to improve communication, maintenance timeliness, and pest control to enhance living experiences. Prospective tenants should expect varying quality and exercise caution regarding management responsiveness.

Corrupt and awful building management
Former Tenant
Pros:
Common areas cleaned often
Cons:
Horrible management - doesn’t respond to calls / emails and never gave us back our security deposit when we moved out. Packages got stolen constantly and the trash room was disgusting so trash just constantly piled up right outside the entrance and management did nothing about it. The super is also extremely unresponsive even though he lives in the building. Don’t live here unless you want to be robbed and scammed
Advice to owner:
Stop being greedy and start caring about your tenants

Croman-owned distressed building
Former Tenant
Pros:
There is an active tenants association.
Cons:
Most units were demolished in 2015 and have been vacant since. These have plastic dust covers as you would see on a construction site. Maintenance is poor.
Advice to owner:
Clean regularly, hire exterminator service.

Nice building, poor management
Former Tenant
Pros:
Upgraded appliances, nice building, and nice super. Probably one of the nicest options when we were looking for an apartment - paid a little more than our budget, but it was worth for a nicer place.
Cons:
Management is unresponsive when issues occur — takes multiple contacts to get them to do stuff. Lots of things broke, but thankfully the super was nice and took care of it (usually promptly)

Lived there for 3 years and it was great
Former Tenant
Pros:
Very pretty building with pretty back view of community garden. Well designed unit. I worked with an incredible broker named Mary at centennial properties. Highly recommend her. And Larry to the super in the building at the time is also incredible.
Cons:
I don't have any! Management definitely had a lot of turnover so it was often confusing and a little frustrating, but they always fixed things eventually. And nothing in my apartment was ever an actual emergency so I didn't mind. The heaters in the bedroom at the back of the apartment in my unit (most windows) didn't heat up very well but that's because of the little radiators and not something they can actually fix.
Advice to owner:
Find some way to heat the back bedroom better, otherwise satisfactory ! Mary and Larry and great!

Old building with horrible management
Former Tenant
Pros:
Friendly super and clean building

AVOID THIS APARTMENT AT ALL COSTS
Former Tenant
Pros:
Supers were responsive.
Cons:
We have still not received our security deposit even though we vacated the unit over 2 months ago. Basement laundry also had a roach problem, likely from proximity to the courtyard where trash is thrown. Tenants never put garbage in the bins, so that area gets gross
Advice to owner:
Return security deposits

Building is great, Blueground is not
Former Tenant
Pros:
Great location, safe, easy and clean garbage area, well-maintained walk up and lobby area, no issues with packages or mail.
Cons:
Our individual unit has issues and we have had NO response from Blueground. The phone just disconnects every time you call and they don't respond to messages in the app or emails.
Advice to owner:
Blueground - respond to your tenants!!!

No security deposit two months after moving out
Former Tenant
Pros:
Unbeatable location, wide stairways, cheap laundry in building
Cons:
Elevator broke multiple times while living here and twice tenants had to jump out when the elevator was stuck between floors. ConEd threatened to turn off the heat in common areas (hallways) multiple times due to the management company not paying their gas bills. Packages were repeatedly stolen. We had mice under our dishwasher and were told there was no way to plug the hole. We still haven’t received our security deposit two months after lease end despite filling out the form on where to send the deposit and multiple emails and texts to the management company.

Small + Cosy

Pros:
Nice walkup, in a very good location with easy access to east village but also the rest on NYC with trains close by
Cons:
Hot water didn't work for a few weeks, neither did AC with slow responses from building management

Nice apartment but oyy...
Former Tenant
Pros:
A virtual doorman, current super
Cons:
Non-responsive management, especially unreachable by phone, constantly revolving staff and contacts not up-to-date, pests in the walls and mice/cockroaches in the units, frequently no hot water/heat due to freaking old boiler, no access to building by key (only virtual doorman), and understaffed garbage maintenance.
Advice to owner:
If any one of the cons listed could be resolved, that would be awesome.

Great Apartment in LES
Former Tenant
Pros:
- great modern appliances - never had a single pest issue - nice, open rooftop for all tenants - near fun bars in the LES and East Village - elevator!
Cons:

Fun for college
Former Tenant
Pros:
I was in apt 6a with roommates. Amazing views on the roof, fun living area.
Cons:
We had a leaky roof that they “fixed” like 10 times but it kept coming back. Also, don’t pay extra for the loft room. More space, yeah, but the lack of wall really sucks.
Advice to owner:
Fix your roof

Centennial Properties - would not recommend
Former Tenant
Pros:
Building is kept clean, neighbors arn't too loud, pest control comes once a month so never had issues there.
Cons:
Management company are non responsive and can not keep their $ straight. They illegally took double rent out of my roommate's account without permission because they could not keep their ledger straight despite us clearly stating we have always paid on time.
Advice to owner:
Train employees to be far more customer centric.

Infested with everything
Former Tenant
Pros:
The layout was nice and the price was okay for Manhattan but not a steal by any means
Cons:
Worst management company ever. Infested with bed bugs, roaches, mice, fleas, bad tenants and constant maintenance issues. Horrific place to live
Advice to owner:
Quit your job and do anything else you slum lord

Good location bad management
Former Tenant
Pros:
Typically very quiet in and around the building
Cons:
Maintenance appointments/requests are missed or just not responded to 90% of the time.
Biggest con was 3 separate apartment floods due to poor building maintenance. Since the roof was not maintained, heavy rainfall caused an actual downpour of water into my apartment 3 times over the course of 6 months. I had to take care of this myself and only received reimbursement after withholding rent. Many of my belongings were damaged and thrown away.
Have not had a problem with that in about a year, but still something to always be frightful of when leaving the city for any extended period of time or just in general.
