Unheard of energy costs and horrid management
Former Tenant
Pros:
Design features in bathrooms and kitchens; very accesible (various subway lines), friendly lobby staff.
Cons:
1. Energy costs are ridiculous at Jolie! Due to building issues, energy usage (kWh) is beyond anything we’ve seen in residential buildings in Manhattan, meaning energy bills are especially high at Jolie, *far beyond* the already higher average costs felt across the city in 2022.
2. Jolie is “managed” by the notoriously terrible First Service Residential, it sours the experience even before moving in— they are rude and useless in dealing with issues, like the high energy usage bills.
Advice to owner:
1. Address energy usage issues ASAP; communicate if/what you are doing to address these; compensate residents for the excessive energy bills.
2. Replace the current management company, FS is horrid and this is no secret— brokers and residents across the city are increasingly aware of FS’s reputation and practices.
