Nice owners, so many roaches
Former Tenant
Pros:
Location is incredible! Layout was great and so well priced for a shared apartment.
Cons:
There is clearly a yearslong roach infestation that has carried over from tenant to tenant which no one discloses when you’re signing the lease (not a shocker of course). While the landlords (a family owned building) are nice and responsive, all they ever did was send a half-assed exterminator that never solved the issue. We never left food our, kept everything so dry and were too afraid to really cook or use the dishwasher lest we bring on more bugs and still they would pop up.
Advice to owner:
Fix your bug issues, based on other reviews here you haven’t done so in years.

Amazing Location; Mediocre Everything Else
Former Tenant
Pros:
This building is located in the lower east side and is close to so many amazing dining options & leisure time options. The area can be kind of tight knit, you know or at least know of some of your neighbors.
Cons:
The building shares a corridor with a Thai restaurant and an Indian restaurant. The garbage disposal area is a shared space between 2 restaurants and the apt building. The garbage space is very small and allows for rats and mice to get into the building and therefore into the apartments. There is an apartment that is not taken care of and will therefore have bedbugs and roaches and mice coming out of the apartment. Beware if you’re close to apt 9!
The landlord is not involved at all; everything is taken up by the super which can lead to issues taking weeks/months to be rectified. The water pressure is decent. Heat is normally blasting in the winters. No roof access & no elevator. Small spaces; high rent.
Advice to owner:
Be more involved with this building. I understand you have a bunch of buildings to make money on and a law office to run, but you need to be aware of the issues happening in the building.
