Neglectful Landlord of East Village
Former Tenant
Pros:
The only thing I can honestly say I like is living near the top of the building so whatever noise or bad things happening outside doesn’t reach us.
Cons:
The landlord is, for lack of a better word, an asshole. Our apartment had an emergency and it took us over an hour try to reach him. Fun thing he accepts no voicemails. After finally getting him on the phone, I can barely tell him my issue before getting hung up on. So that’s fun. The issue we had by the way was one of the pipes steaming so much it’s making paint of the wall peel then the rest of the apartment being as cold as outside(there’s a snowstorm btw too so it’s pretty cold)
Advice to owner:
Maybe get a new super?

Shitty building shitty management
Former Tenant
Pros:
Apartment was spacious and the rooftop was nice.
Cons:
Everything in our apartment broke. Every sink, the tub, the ceiling at one point. When we moved in, the doors didn’t match the doorframes. My bedroom window didn’t even fit the hatch and I got feasted on by mosquitos for the first month of our lease before I realized what it was. Nobody came to fix it. Had people come and fix our sinks to which they responded, “there’s nothing really we can do, it’s just a bad sink.” Also somehow the apartment was ALWAYS burning hot. BURNING. Sometimes it didn’t turn on in the winter and we were forced to freeze.
Advice to owner:
Fix your apartment units. Just fix everything. Nobody is going to be paying your insane rent for this borderline shit hole anymore.
