Solid place for a single person
Former Tenant
Pros:
Good location Great natural light Big kitchen and bedroom
Cons:
Gas was out for 5 months so no stovetop cooking or oven. Communication around the repair was nonexistent Very loud at night from local businesses Tiny bathroom and water takes a while to heat in the winter

Great location, great building, awesome landlord
Former Tenant
Pros:
I lived here for 10 years and loved it. Great location obviously. I never had any major issues which says a lot. Super is responsive when you need him. Addi is a great guy and actually cares about the tenants. Good value for the price and the location.
Cons:
You do get street noise at night but that goes without saying for the neighborhood. The hallway was occasionally dirty.

Large sun filled apartments
Former Tenant
Pros:
The apartment was quite spacious and we had a ton of natural sunlight from huge southern facing windows. Tall ceilings. Building always felt very secure. Super doesn’t live in building but is generally responsive.
Cons:
We had mice every winter despite our best efforts of steel wool and foam spray. Couldn’t figure out where they we coming in. The real primary con —it is SO LOUD. I guess it’s expected bc it’s next to hair of the dog but damn. Gotta be a really sound sleeper to get a good nights rest. Loud lines outside most nights from 10pm-4am (pre-COVID).
Advice to owner:
Upgrade the windows so they don’t let in so much noise or do some sound proofing. If this was less of an issue I’d very happily have stayed!

“Bugs don’t fly that high”
Former Tenant
Pros:
Close to subway and amazing restaurants, good soundproofing between units (my neighbor blasted music all day and while it was audible in the hallways I never heard it in my apt), good division of space inside apts
Cons:
Things will break and it will take ages to get them fixed. Every time you ask for something to be fixed they’ll respond with anger and condescension. My fridge broke twice and each time it took two weeks to fix it. The second time, person who comes to fix things called and asked me what the fridge “sounded like” so he could determine what part to buy then when he came with the purchased part he got irritated because I’d described the sound “wrong” and he purchased the wrong part. There was a slow leak in the radiator of the unit above me which caused paint to build up and flake down into my living room in quarter sized chunks. Not super comforting since the building is 100 years old and defs had lead paint. The toilet in the unit above mine also leaked into the wall so my bathroom ceiling started growing mushrooms. The pest control person apparently comes and knocks on doors but I never heard the knock even when I was working from home. When I mentioned this to the landlord he responded angrily that he had hired someone, that person was doing their job and he wasn’t going to make any changes. So when I inevitably did see pests, I had to hire my own pest company to spray and seal the apt. The presence of pests isn’t a shocker though because this building leaves all the windows in the stairwell open 24/7. None of the windows have screens so anything can fly/crawl in. When asked about adding screens to the windows the landlord said “bugs don’t fly that high”. Lol. Finally, this building is next to 4 bars/clubs. And the windows are single paned so there is no sound proofing at all. It is extremely loud and I’ve slept through earthquakes, fire alarms you name it. If you don’t sleep until after 2 am, aren’t bothered by bugs and want every request to fix things to be responded to with “Have you paid your rent on time?” even if you’ve never missed a payment, go for it.

i dont recommended
Former Tenant
Pros:
great location, lots of sun in the apartments
Cons:
first off, i frequently saw dead roaches in the hallway. when we moved in, they said they would fix the windows and oven (it didnt close) soon and they never did. whenever i asked them to fix something they would get so mad. a homeless person broke into the lobby and peed on the floor and no one picked up my phine call. it is so cold in the winter, they need to fix the windows. they told us we didnt pay rent so many times when we did. i picked up a call at work and they were so nasty telling me we left the apartment a complete mess (not true) and they ended up mixing ours up with someone elses and never apologized. also, the first staircase is so narrow so moving furniture is horrible. people also stole packages from the lobby. this happened to me multiple times within 1 hr of amazon delivering them. move somewhere else.
