Fine but overpriced and unresponsive
Former Tenant
Pros:
Location is great, building exterior is nice, laundry is building was reliable. Apartment was tiny for the price, but it’s the East Village.
Cons:
Radiator heat was way too high, I had to leave windows open in January to keep the temperature reasonable. Stairs are steep and slippery, I fell multiple times. Super was great, helpful and responsive. Landlord was unresponsive and often unprofessional. Price inflated because of it being the Led Zeppelin building.
Advice to owner:
Update the heating system and make the stairs safer

Legendary Led Zeppelin Building, Not so GReat LAndlord
Former Tenant
Pros:
I loved the location! Right in the heart of St Marks a block away from Tompkins Park
Cons:
The landlords are horrible. My previous apartment (with the same landlords) burnt down (electrical fire which I had complained to the landlord about prior to the fire) and as a result I lost all my belongings. I had to fight with the landlords In court for 7 months to get them to move me into a place until my apartment was finished being rebuilt. The day before I went to move into the apartment they had moved someone else into my apartment.
Advice to owner:
Take care of maintenance things such as faulty wirings bc it could result in a fire

Awesome area (for the right person),
Former Tenant
Pros:
Very special neighborhood with a great rooftop. Even with the loud social scene, a back facing apartment provided me with the quiet I needed for dependable deep sleep. Laundry in building was huge too (for fair prices).
Cons:
TLDR: had mice in apartment and but had to sue landlord to get rebated for the $400+ in expenses that I fronted.
After 4+ weeks of waiting for their in house pest control guy to show up in my apartment for mice I called my own exterminator (which was 3-4x more expensive than their guy who wouldn’t show up). They called the price excessively expensive. I had to file a small claims court case to get my $400+ back. They didn’t show up to court. They paid the exterminator fees in due time once the judgement came back in my favor.
Rats (not just mice) lived outside the building on the sidewalk. I saw them every morning M-F as I’d leave the building early for work (first to leave the bldg every morning). They’d scramble from the trash bags to hide against 96, 98 Saint Marks and Dumpling man. I understand this isn’t the property manager’s fault, but with the level of rodent infestation around east village I’d think the property manager would take my request more seriously.
Advice to owner:
Don’t nickel and dime upstanding tenants that have rodent issues.
