Extraordinary Rent Hikes
Former Tenant
Pros:
Standard New York City apartment in great area
Cons:
The building management hikes rent every year so the whole building vacates and new tenants come in. My rent went up 25% from 2023 to 2024 in a market that only increased by 6%. All my neighbors have similar stories. Don’t plan to live here more than a year because they will do it again.
Advice to owner:
Not ethical to raise that high in one year. This is our home and our life.
