Abandon hope (and your concept of time)
Former Tenant
Pros:
Great location. Next to an NYU dorm, so can get a bit noisy during the school year. Price is steep but doable for the area.
Cons:
- Outdated appliances (think 15+ years) -mice and roaches. There is a monthly exterminator. However, like the mice, he eludes capture. You’ll wait at home on the 3rd Saturday of the month (as scheduled and in the lease), only to find that he came on Thursday while you were at work. Matel does not inform you of these schedule changes, and maintains that the exterminator comes once a month. If you manage to catch him, he will do the same performative spray, before going on his way and ignoring your pest concerns. -packages are routinely stolen. Even if you stay home to await your package, there is a chance it will be stolen in the 2 minutes it takes you to make it to the lobby (true story). Better off sending things to the ups and FedEx stores only. -no laundry in building which is kind of a bummer given how much it costs.
