Cheap and cheerful in nolita

Pros

Location, location, location. Nice neighbors.

Cons

This is not an elevator/doorman building. Walk up. The interior is unwelcoming, Florescent lighting and hasn’t been redone, ever. So much unused outdoor space that no one is allowed to use. At one point someone’s grew plants to cover up an ugly outdoor wall in the courtyard and management actually tore them down. Bizarre. Worst of all, I believe my apartment was rent controlled and I moved out because of a $300 increase that was probably illegal.
