Charming walk-up in great location with responsive owners
Former Tenant
Pros:
Felix and his son David are the property owners and managers of this building and I believe a few others. They were incredible landlords while we were there. I'm not even sure if Felix is still alive, he was in his 80s when we moved in right after Superstorm Sandy and he would often respond to house calls for any issues! He came to fix our refrigerator once and after tinkering with it for about 30 minutes just decided he'll just get a new one. And lo and behold and new one was there within the week. They regularly had pest control treat the building, it was always clean, and the Super, Juan was very responsive as well (not sure if he's still their or not). One more thing, my wife got pregnant while we lived here and while thought we could make it work in our little 1BR, it was clear it would be very tight, so we ended up asking if we could break the lease a few months early. We'd been there nearly 3 years and Felix and David were so understanding. We gave them ample notice and allowed them to show the place while we were at work and we got full deposit back with no issues. Their office is just down the street too and I looked forward to dropping off the rent check each month and having a quick chat. These guys truly are a rare breed as landlords come. Honest, responsive, nice and reasonable.
Cons:
Really can't think of much, we had great neighbors, laundry machines always worked. Our apartment was fairly small and didn't have a lot of storage, but they allowed you to lock up bikes in the laundry room in the basement. No elevator, but we were on the first floor, but just a FYI.
Advice to owner:
Keep being amazing, you'll keep renters in place for longer and consistently get amazing referrals.
