you’ll put up with it all because it’s a good location
Former Tenant
Pros:
charming, unique apartment layouts, above a drag bar so the people watching is great. heat works in the winter but they aren’t as bad as some apartments at overheating you. some very nice neighbors and great neighborhood block. love being near foragers and cafe flor. location and charm can’t be beat. almost never seen a roach in the apartment.
Cons:
the building doesn’t have a super (don’t be fooled by whomever they send to help you your first month - they are not the super and you’ll probably never see them again). their model is to make money from high turnover so you won’t get very favorable lease renewals. you’ll move out in 2 years tops unless the market really really dips. lower apartments are quite loud from the bar (floor ‘1’ and up is okay. intercoms don’t work so you just have to buzz everyone. The apartments regularly have mice. (they’re kind of cute). they don’t clean the hallways ´ (i don’t mean they don’t clean enough - they don’t clean ever)
Advice to owner:
some basic maintenance, and a super would go a long way.
