Expensive but well managed

Pros

Super is on top of everything. Responds quickly and always working. Always helpful. Having the doorman 10-8pm is nice. Apartments that are renovated are great. Facing the backside, it’s very quiet in terms of outside noise. The heat and AC work well.

Cons

Doormen often let people up without alerting you. Most couches won’t fit in these apartments. No phone service in this building. There are mice in the building, but the super takes care of it well. No service elevator.

Build a service elevator!

Mostly well kept building, absurdly expensive

Pros

Building was mostly clean and whenever I had pest complaints they were promptly handled. Additionally was able to keep a cat with no fee (dogs required medical documentation)

Are there any noise issues - what are they?

You can hear a lot of what is going on in your neighbors’ apartments and in the hallway (eg, when they sit on their bed, when they go down the stairs, sometimes even their pee stream lol). It doesn’t keep me awake because I sleep with white noise. But unfortunately that’s par for the course in any New York building that isn’t pre-war or very well-built modern. The super is amazing and if you were to have any neighbors playing loud music or otherwise causing issues you could always ask him to intervene. Hope that helps!
