Slow responses and Greedy owners
Former Tenant
Pros:
Super is nice and around a lot, only 12 units in the building. Gave us a market standard rent reduction for covid after many back and forth
Cons:
upper management is slow to respond to bigger issues or ignores them entirely, basement and trash room are very dirty rarely cleaned (roaches). Owners are very greedy and refused a reasonable negotiation for an apartment switch for us, and wanted to us a higher rent than current tenants were paying (which was already a pre-covid price) to move into their very similar apartment. Kept bumping up the price at each turn. Also, giant cell towers on roof next to tenant patios and unknown radiation levels are present. Also had mice problems for months.
Advice to owner:
You should care about the cleanliness of the basement and trash room of your building, especially in a building on main streets with a restaurant. You should care that your tenants know they are safe from radiation for the hundred of thousands of dollars you are making off of cell towers on the roof. You should care about rodent and pest problems in your building. You should care about keeping good tenants happy and keeping them around. You should care about financially being willing to meet your tenant somewhere instead of only making decisions based on profit.
