Review summary

Summarized from anonymous rental reviews on Openigloo.

Recent reviews of 138 East 31 Street, Manhattan, highlight mixed experiences. Tenants appreciate the building's convenient location near public transit and grocery stores, with some noting responsive and easy-to-deal-with management. Cleanliness and pest control experiences vary significantly, with some praising good maintenance and others reporting persistent roach and mice problems. Noise levels are generally moderate, though occasional disruptions due to transient visitors have been noted. Elevator reliability and lobby upkeep were frequently mentioned as areas needing improvement. Water pressure and heating were mostly satisfactory. While some renters recommend the building, concerns about neighbors, pest issues, and maintenance inconsistencies suggest further attention is needed to enhance living conditions.

Pros

Lived here for like a year kept renewing 3 month short term agreement. Management easy to deal with.

Cons

I believe it was also used as a airbnb or something else .. would see tourist with suitcases alot or hear a weirdo singing in the shower (?*) * I think there is a common shower share on one of the floors not sure..

Not Bad, Not Great

Pros

Location is great near TJ's / 6 train / Midtown. Fairly quiet street across from Windsor Court courtyard.

Cons

Lobby consistently smells like BO. Elevator is super sketchy, if you catch it on an off-day it will shake super bad and leave you stuck for 10-15 seconds. Management still has not fixed.

Advice to the owners

Fix the elevator and freshen up the lobby once in a while.
