Review summary

Summarized from anonymous rental reviews on Openigloo.

Recent reviews for 328 West 44 Street emphasize its unbeatable location near multiple subway lines, Broadway, and major city attractions, making it highly accessible. Tenants frequently commend the live-in superintendent’s helpfulness and the generally clean laundry facilities. However, the building’s age shows in thin walls and occasional maintenance issues, with some tenants citing noise from neighbors and nearby streets as a downside. Garbage management and management responsiveness receive mixed feedback, with a few calls for improved communication and more timely repairs. The surrounding neighborhood can feel unsafe due to transient populations, but many find the trade-off worth it for the location and affordability.

First time around

Pros

The building is so close to the A/C/E on 8/42 and other trains too. It's close to great restaurants, clubs, bars, Broadway, Central Park, and etc. The location and its accessibility to transit makes it an attractive housing option.

Cons

The water pressure is weak. The building is old. It's next to Time Square. It's loud all the time. Lower-level apartments may not receive direct sunlight.

Renter Q&A

Are the common areas of this building secure from outsiders?

Nah, the block is full of whack jobs who sometimes find their way in. I’ve caught a dude smoking crack in the vestibule a few times and have repeatedly kicked out randos.

yes and no. there are two locked front doors to enter the building. the front door one often doesn't latch in hot weather due to the doorframe expanding and being too big for the door to close easily on its own. i lived there for 4 years and think i only saw an intruder once or twice during my time there.
