Nice location but lots of bugs

Pros:
Has an elevator, has balconies with every apartment, convenient location for public transit
Cons:
absolutely disgusting amount of roaches in the building. small roaches are everywhere and larger ones are around as well. really miserable state of affairs in terms of repairs and maintenance as well, super is amazing but lacks support from building and realtor is extremely unresponsive
Advice to owner:
please get the bugs under control and respond to your tenants

Pros:
Spacious and well priced, all neighbors were nice and the building is pet friendly. Maintenance was fairly quick at responding to requests
Cons:
Management would often promise things that would not occur, the construction outside the apartment has gotten crazy loud, some packages in the lobby of the building have gotten opened and stolen, the intercom system is VERY old

Please update the security system!

Perfectly acceptable place to live
Cons:
They raise the rent an obscene amount every year. You have to badger them for repairs, but they do eventually fix them. Loud and people from the shelter next door have broken in. Frequent package theft. Management does nothing about it.

Pros:
I lived here nearly 10 years and loved it and during that time, my roommate and I only saw 1 bug.

Near everything and good restaurants nearby.
Cons:
The management company was decent. They never provided leases for renewal until the week or two before -- which was often uncomfortable and they ONLY worked on the phone. No emails which was really inconvenient.

The women's homeless shelter next door was a NIGHTMARE. The women would be on the back patio at all hours of the night smoking, screaming, yelling, fighting. I would constantly be complaining to the House Manager and the city about this shelter.

Also, the neighborhood started to change towards the end with more homeless and drug use -- but hey that's NYC!
Advice to owner:
Davis Realty wasn't too bad. There are much worse in NYC.

Fine building

Pros:
Nice big one br for fairly cheap. Great neighborhood. No rent increase in over 8 years. Landlord was very generous and worked with me during COVID. Negotiated and was able to pay even less. Always fair over the years and fixed whatever problems I had. The super is very helpful and friendly. LL upgraded my range, fridge, and microwave for free without me asking.
Cons:
The gym is small and not great. The intercom system to buzz people up is outdated and neighbors sometimes let in people they don’t know. Some neighbors leave dog fur in the washing machines. Used to have problems with shelter next door hanging out in front all day, but has been much better lately.
Advice to owner:
Upgrade the intercom system. Otherwise, building is fine.
