Great neighbors, TERRIBLE management, unsafe building. DO NOT RECOMMEND!
Former Tenant
Pros:
Neighbors are fantastic and pretty much keep to themselves. When the management doesn't look out for tenants, neighbors look out for each other. When the super refused to provide safety with stolen packages, neighbors started bringing up each other's packages and putting it in front of others' doors when entering so they wouldn't get stolen / ripped open.
Cons:
Packages repeatedly stolen from the lobby (pretty much every single day). Tenants pleaded with the super to please make the front door more secure or install a box to insert packages into and he refused. He said it isn't his responsibility. People on the street could easily open up the doors and enter the building. Numerous times there were homeless people in the building ripping open packages, changing, sleeping, and even one time someone defecated in between the two front doors. The super (not the owner who is very kind, but his son who is not and communicates with the residents) is not helpful at all. Smoke alarm went off in the hallways for about a week (with numerous complaints from residents all week) until he finally changed them. He says safety of residents "isn't his problem" and ignores pleas from residents for help. Also a meth lab exploded in the apartment building next door in our last month living there. There is a group of people squatting in apartment building next door who sell meth and take apart stolen bikes for $$, and often they set up camp on the street. This is just the tip of the iceberg. I would NOT recommend this building to anyone, especially young women.
Advice to owner:
DO BETTER. Help ensure the safety of your tenants.

Keep looking for other apts
Former Tenant
Pros:
Location if you’re trying to live in Hell’s Kitchen. Proximity to restaurants and bars

Cons:
Right on 9th Ave so very noisy
Trash is kept indoors when you walk in building it smells and there may be rats
I had bed bugs and they stipulate in the lease that you’re responsible for pest control. This is against NYC law. I had to take them to small claims court in order to be reimbursed for an exterminator
Building is falling apart
It’s a walk up
Dark central living space. Only bedrooms get light
Advice to owner:
Stop taking advantage of tenants and invest in the building.
