Elevator from hell
Former Tenant
Pros:
Location of building, nice staff

Management: dishonest with no-show property mgr. not making urgent repairs- people getting stuck in elevator over and over
Advice to owner:
Get decent building manager, repair constantly breaking elevator, they’re saving you money with a disaster waiting to happen

Great location, small apartments, bad management, BED BUGS
Former Tenant
Pros:
Great door man and porters. Buildings are cleaned frequently. The location is great.
Cons:
The elevator has issues constantly. There was a bed bug issue last fall that was handled very poorly and because of that the bugs spread throughout the building. A couple months ago a large portion of the building was without water for three days and didn't hear from management until the third day. There is a male tenet in the building who is mentally unwell. He's singled out an elderly woman in the building who he verbally abuses and tries to constantly intimidate. The police have been called on him and he has even trapped her in an elevator alone with him and he has yet to be evicted. The woman doesn't feel safe and management has yet to do anything significant to remedy the situation.
Advice to owner:
Treat tenets like actual humans instead of things to squeeze money out of

Beware of nightmare neighbor
Former Tenant
Pros:
The building is beautiful. Great views, amazing location, and good laundry in the basement.
Cons:
There is a problem tenant in the building who has assaulted around 10 residents, most of which are women and elders. He will trap you in the elevator, physically intimidate you, and scream profanities in your face. Management is aware and has done nothing. This man is dangerous and mentally unstable.
Advice to owner:
Evict the problem tenant or stop renewing his lease. You are the problem and are going to be responsible for someone eventually getting seriously injured

A great place to live
Former Tenant
Pros:
It’s very residential with tenants being there a long time. I loved the doormen and we all love an elevator with laundry in the building. The location is unbeatable and there’s soooo much to do close by. Central Park is 30 seconds away from the door. The place is a total bop.
Cons:
Honestly there wasn’t much I didn’t like. It was close to Citibike stations, the local B/C was a block away, and Columbus Circle is maybe a 8min walk away if you’re gay.
Advice to owner:
Raising the rent at the end of the lease when my partner and I split wasn’t cute. They knew the situation and could’ve kept it at the same rate because I was trying to renew on my own which I was approved for. The doormen also got incredibly pushy the day I had to move out, which was wild because they’d been so nice before, and they knew I was packing an entire apartment by myself including my ex partner’s things.
I get that there’s going to be a financial excuse that pops in your brain, but raising the rent that much was… a choice.

Slow elevator, issues with neighbors
Former Tenant
Pros:
-quiet -close to park -presentable Lobby -friendly workers -pet friendly -plenty of light
Cons:
-slowest elevator, there is only one -issues with aggressive tenants with eviction notices not leaving -cockroach issues, maybe not the worst in the city but certainly an issue -gym is no longer free, cannot use -some old grumpy, and very smelly neighbors (one in particular) -old kitchen need to remove, but won't until new tenant asks for it before they sign -no garbage chute
Advice to owner:
-get a new elevator -kick out aggressive neighbors that are stressing tenants out
