Pretty Nice Place
Pros
Cheap Rent for the size of the studios Warm in winter months Good location for midtown offices
Cons
Not a very community type area
Unresponsive management, lazy super, and Illegal rental practices
Pros
Good location, decently sized units, a monthly exterminator is sent around
Cons
Old and outdated appliances; no microwaves, dishwashers, or A/C; lazy and inept superintendent who took three months to solve a toilet flushing problem that was a 15 minute fix; illegal $100 application fees; poor trash management with roach and mice issues; black sooty dust comes into the windows from the alleyways they look onto; literally can’t get any responses from landlord; poorly maintained with sagging floors, exposed nails, and extremely bad peeling paint that at its worst would fall down in foot-diameter chunks; the truly worst experience was when the building’s sewage backed up through my kitchen sink and spilled out all over the countertops and floor. It took four business days and constant calling the phone lines to finally get assistance from management, and they refused to cover cleaning costs which I shelled out $80 out of pocket for. They literally told me that if I wanted to do something about it I should take them to court. They were also late on returning the security deposit.
Advice to the owners
When people say eat the rich, they’re talking about Jane and Allan Goldman. For both your commercial and residential tenants, providing poor service quality is bad business and as your dad’s portfolio shrinks from your mismanagement people will have more and more opportunities to escape your slumlord ways.
