Landlord shuts off heat & hot water if you complain 1319 third ave Beware
Former Tenant
Pros:
If your French you most likely are OK. The landlord is racist and only rents to French people.
Old charming building
Cons:
Anti Semitic landlord if you are Jewish or black, your lease will not be re-renewed.
If you complain about anything dealing with the building your lease will not be renewed in retaliation.
During COVID tenants complained about heat and hot water and they were all kicked out.
Radiators barely function and there are constant roach and mice infestations. Landlord states if you complain to the city you will not have a home. 2 tenants kicked out for complaining and the last 20 year hold out is being harassed for finally making HPD complaints. 25% rent increases are normal if you complain.
The shoe store runs as a tannery. They have an illegal conversion from residential to commercial and the toxic fumes of the the leather seep into every apartment.
Beware as the landlord lives in France and will do anything to make a quick buck.
Steer far away
Advice to owner:
Don't be a slumlord.
