Overpay to live in a dark cave, with seasonal pests, and unresponsive management
Former Tenant
Pros:
Neighborhood, proximity to central park
Cons:
Management unresponsive to everything aside from making sure they get paid. Building is dirty. Washers and dryers in the basement break on a monthly basis and steal your money. We had mice multiple times, plus there’s a nat and ant infestation every summer (the building states an exterminator comes monthly but I had seen 2 in the 3.5 years I lived there). Super is unreliable. Roof leaks all over top floor, in hallways and multiple apartments, and after multiple weeks of having the leak a 2nd patch job fixed the leaking but then they did nothing about the old, musty, and probably molded exposed wood for nearly a year until we moved out. Apartment constantly looks like it’s dusk due to lack of sunlight, seasonal depression year round inside. No security system, on one occasion we had someone ringing our doorbell past midnight on a weeknight for 10 minutes straight, if you’re expecting mail you would ring whoever it is in but no way to be sure who was coming inside. Had packages stolen and I believe it was someone who got in from the street rather than a neighbor, management did not care.
Advice to owner:
You overcharge people to live in small and terrible conditions, the least you can do is respond, keep the building clean, and keep pests under control.
