Review summary

Summarized from anonymous rental reviews on Openigloo.

Recent reviews for 528 East 79 Street praise the building’s safety, quiet atmosphere, and responsive management team, with many tenants appreciating the well-maintained common areas and strong soundproofing. The location offers beautiful river views and a calm neighborhood vibe, with friendly neighbors enhancing the community feel. However, some renters report pest issues, including roaches and bed bugs, which management has addressed but not fully resolved. Other concerns involve occasional cleanliness lapses in hallways, package security, and extra charges for minor repairs. Overall, the building appeals to those valuing security and quiet, though pest control improvements are needed.

Great and safe building on the UES

Pros

I always felt super safe in this building. The management office was incredibly responsive and if anything needed fixing they’d have someone put there usually within 1 day. The building is quiet and the walls have incredible soundproofing. I didn’t ever hear my neighbors.

Cons

The hallways/stairs could use a bit more attention in terms of keeping them clean.

Pros

SW Management owns the whole 78 and 79 street blocks. It's always clean and well maintained. Lots of staff and feels very safe.

Cons

Front desk manager is not very kind. Packages sometimes get stolen from vestibules (I think this is a common thing anymore). If you want to break a lease be prepared to pay. They are zero flexibility on this.
