Former Tenant
Pros:
Cheapest rent we could find in the area.
Cons:
We had a persistent mouse and roach problem that the landlord, Maria Armendariz, and super refused to do anything about. Once, when we called about a mouse sighting, the super laughed and said “lucky you,” and then hung up. When we moved out the landlord refused to return our over $5000 security deposit, dodging our calls and letters and then saying that it had already been returned. It was finally returned, over a year after we vacated, only after we opened a complaint with the AG’s office. The apartment was generally grimy—we had a thin layer of black dust over everything near the windows, even when they were closed.
Advice to owner:
Fix your pest problem and return tenants’ security deposits on time.
