location is what makes it worth
Former Tenant
Pros:
the location and how easy it was to get in and out. small building only a few floors. no elevator needed.
Cons:
cockroach infestation like you would not believe.
Advice to owner:
exterminate.

Living above restaurants that dont manage garbage
Former Tenant
Pros:
Location. Neighbors. Coffee shop on the corner.
Cons:
Rats. Rats. Rats. In the alley entryway, dead by the garbage bins, running from curb to bins in the shadows of night. Disgustingly filthy. Shameful for the neighborhood.
Advice to owner:
Tell your retail tenants to pick up and dispose of their trash. They create the rat situation and you do nothing about it.

Went downhill when COVID started
Former Tenant
Pros:
Location is good, laundry in basement, hard to hear people in other apartments, good windows
Cons:
We lived here for four years and loved the first three, but it went downhill very fast as soon as COVID hit. They forced our super to leave his garden level apartment and never replaced him, trash and recycling piled up attracting rats, the lock to the front door of the building was broken and they didn’t respond to requests to fix it. They were extremely uncommunicative when we were moving out and when we were trying to get our security deposit back (which we did eventually get). Really terrible end to what used to be a great building. Avoid!
Advice to owner:
At minimum, give your tenants a front door that locks properly.
