Liveable but could be much better
Former Tenant
Pros:
- Building is a few doors down from the 96th St 6 train station - Pet-friendly
Cons:
- Laundry is located in the basement of 132 E 96 and is shared by all residents living in 128, 130, 132, 134, 136 residents (complex of buildings owned by management). All listings online say that laundry is in the building, but in reality is not. - I lived on the first floor and had issues with leaking pipes in my bathroom for all 3 years I lived there. This meant that every year the plaster on my bathroom ceiling would crack and in January 2022, it was to the point that my bathroom light fell from the ceiling. Super would only “fix” the problem by repairing the ceiling plaster even though I would ask that they go in to fix the actual pipes. - Walls are a bit thin—I could hear my next-door neighbor and the neighbor across the hall when they talk.
Advice to owner:
- Add more laundry facilities - Do a thorough review of building plumbing - Consider updating or deep-cleaning hallways and staircases - Consider hiring another superintendent
