Review summary

Summarized from anonymous rental reviews on Openigloo.

Recent renters of 235 E 89 St in Manhattan cite a friendly neighbor community and a desirable neighborhood as positives. However, the building suffers from major maintenance and management issues. Complaints include poor cleanliness, inadequate heat, weak water pressure, pest problems, and inefficient garbage management. Tenants report unresponsive and reportedly unscrupulous landlord behavior, with some legal action underway related to heating failures. The absence of an engaged on-site superintendent exacerbates tenant frustrations. High noise levels within the building were also noted. Overall, while location and neighbors are praised, the building requires substantial management and facility improvements to enhance tenant satisfaction.

Deplorable Landlord - Stay Away

Pros

Nothing to like about this building

Cons

The landlord is slimy. They have no moral compass and will do whatever they can to make your rental experience miserable. If something is wrong they are extremely difficult to work with to fix it. They are currently being sued by two different tenants for their lack of providing heat to the tenants.
