Paper thin walls
Former Tenant
Pros:
Apartment looked nice, super was responsive on his working days (not really over the weekend), great central location. Had an ant problem for a bit as others mentioned but exterminator was quick to fix. Never saw any pests other than ants
Cons:
Walls and floors are paper thin. I could hear every single conversation my neighbors had if we were in the same room at the same time, including upstairs and downstairs. Apartments used to get really hot with no way to fix it

Not my favorite

Pros:
Loved the location
Cons:
Responsiveness to tenant issues

Charming and Classic, with very few quirks
Former Tenant
Pros:
Love the charm in my apartment. I am absolutely obsessed with it. Great bones, great space configuration.
Cons:
The heat is WAY, way too hot, to the point where it’s uncomfortable. Also, some of the features are pretty standard and not optimized for use. I.e. bathroom and kitchen faucet knobs can’t be turned on/off with wrists which is frustrating when you have soapy hands. Also, the faucet in the kitchen sink is so short which makes it hard to wash big pots or pans.
Advice to owner:
Change the carpeting in the hallways/stairs to linoleum or tile! The carpeting absorbs and retains every scent from whatever tenants cook to whenever someone forgets to take out their trash until it’s too late and starts to smell up the hallway.

Don’t move here
Former Tenant
Pros:
Nice neighborhood, not much else
Cons:
Everything. I have absolutely nothing good to say about this building and its landlord. Neighbors are disrespectful and loud, noise comes right through paper thin walls. Landlord is negligent and unresponsive to issues. Had a mosquito and ant problem whenever it was warm. Difficult to get repairs in apt when needed. The hallways smell, the rugs are always dirty. Once a month an exterminator comes.
Advice to owner:
Address issues brought up by tenants. Treat tenants better

Not the best
Former Tenant
Pros:
Great location, that’s about it
Cons:
The block got really gross when I left and had a mouse in the apartment. The building was always dirty, additionally the landlord wasn’t flexible about covid and giving discounts. I think the block got disgusting and it lead to the building being disgusting. Wouldn’t recommend.

The heat was always way too hot. Additionally their was a crazy man on the ground floor who was awful
Advice to owner:
Give discounts to long term renters, don’t rent to city dhs, improve sanitation.

It’s...okay
Former Tenant
Pros:
It’s always warm and once a month an exterminator comes by.
Cons:
Neighbors, noise, things break and are rarely fixed by the super. Lots of theft. Cameras only keep a recording of 3 days. The lobby and stairs are insanely dirty all the time. The super sweeps the rugs sometimes, which is useless. I pay $1000 more then my next door neighbor who just moved in. I understand I have a lease but when I asked for a couple hundred dollar rent break for a month during the pandemic, I was told no.
Advice to owner:
Be better to the people who have lived there for awhile, and get a new super who cares and fixes things.
