DO NOT LIVE HERE
Former Tenant
Pros:
Doormen are nice, that's about it
Cons:
DO NOT LIVE HERE. Jessica Berns from the management office is a WITCH!! She and the entire office do not care about you or your issues in the building. The elevators are always broken. They promise things that never happen. They over charge for apartments. You will regret living here I promise.
Advice to owner:
Fire Jessica Berns and the entire UES management office and replace them with people who care about the wellbeing of tenants.

Not worth the price and they need to fix this elevator situation asap
Former Tenant
Pros:
The location is good and close to the subway
Cons:
The elevator is ALWAYS broken and the elevator wait can be up to 20 minutes sometimes. The A/C barely works and they turn it off way too early. Everything is falling apart and you can tell they used the cheapest materials they could buy. We have this black mold dust in the vents that is absolutely disgusting.
Advice to owner:
This building needs serious updates

Mouse problem that never went away
Former Tenant
Pros:
Building staff were extremely nice and helpful. Apartment was spacious. Package room was convenient. Right next to the Q train entrance.
Cons:
Lived there for 2 years and had a mouse problem almost the entire time. Maintenance came to fill the holes they were coming through multiple times, but they kept getting in. Also saw roaches too regularly for what was advertised as a luxury building.

We moved when they raised our rent 19% ($800) and refused to negotiate. Almost 1 year later and the apartment is still empty.

Unfathomably Horrible Management
Former Tenant
Pros:
Door staff so friendly with nice neighbors
Cons:
The management is manipulative, irrational, unprofessional, withholds information, takes no accountability and flat out lies about rent increases/apartment value to get their way, even when the market comps show otherwise.
Advice to owner:
Put a real manager in the “management office” to oversee the disgrace that’s currently the face of the building

Decent Place to live
Former Tenant
Pros:
Location is great
Cons:
Cleanliness could use some improvement
Advice to owner:
Drastically improve communication and security.

a solid option
Former Tenant
Pros:
solid units, friendly doormen, reasonable package room. overall no major complaints.
Cons:
management is somewhat unresponsive

Horrible Managment- NO accoutability
Former Tenant
Pros:
Proximity to the Q train. Large apartment but they are cutting them all up now.
Cons:
Apartment was NOT ready on my move in date, not cleaned and things were broken and stained. Shortly after construction began on 6 other apartments on the floor. All of this so that they could present us with a new lease with a $1000 increase.
Advice to owner:
If you can't earn trust of your tenants in one and bedrooms. Good luck pleasing the tenants of the $18,000 apartments you are all kicking us out for.

Nice place to live overall; a few complaints but overall love it
Former Tenant
Pros:
Responsive maintenance
Nice unit
overall pretty quiet
Cons:
Building manager
Unit was really gross when we moved in
Another story of greed
Former Tenant
Pros:
Wonderful front desk staff and maintenance department
Cons:
This dated, dreary building is raising rents at an alarming rate (38% and more) because new buildings are being built all around them. Rugs are worn, hallways are dark and the building is in need of a total renovation
Advice to owner:
Make this building worthy of these ridiculous rents

Generally good building
Former Tenant
Pros:
The building is generally pleasant. Apartments are spacious. Doormen/women are superb. Great package room.
Cons:
Apartments vary in their level of upgrades, yet you pay the same rent regardless. The office staff is unresponsive and rude.
Advice to owner:
Treat your tenants better.

Loved my time here!
Former Tenant
Pros:
Spacious apartments, convenient right next to the Q and responsive management team!
Cons:
My bathroom ran into a few plumbing / leak issues but management was very on top of fixing it… just took a few tries

Horrible building & management
Former Tenant
Pros:
The management team is awful I have no pros
Cons:
The management is AWFUL. The worst experience I have ever had living in nyc. Their negligence made my dog sick and they did not care and it took them over a week to even acknowledge it
Advice to owner:
Have a little decency? Care about the people paying you thousands of dollars
Over 2 years ago
Very expensive for what it is
Former Tenant
Pros:
Very nice concierge
Cons:
Once you sign the lease it’s incredibly hard to get a response. When I signed (a few years ago) the next day the gas as shut off for the whole building - was not told found out through the NYT article.
Advice to owner:
Be more responsive.

Constant Noise All Day (banging and drilling from renovations)
Former Tenant
Pros:
Washer/dryer room on every floor
Cons:
Constant renovation of vacated apartments leading to excessive and constant noise
Advice to owner:
Stop knocking down walls when renovating apartments! Rent them out as is.

Luxury building minus some luxury
Former Tenant
Pros:
Doorman, water pressure, maintenance response time
Cons:
A/C, management response, a lot of construction, mailroom hours , expensive laundry
Over 2 years ago
Shameful Management & Noisy as Hell
Former Tenant
Pros:
Proximity to subway
Cons:
UES Management’s neglectful, rude and discriminatory behavior is a repeated slap in the face given the rent you’re paying to live in this construction zone, and it will inevitably ruin your living experience at Yorkshire Towers.

Good luck getting anything fixed or moved in without bribing $$ someone.

Building maintenance is frequently unstaffed and/or unavailable for major emergencies such as pipe bursts.

Tenants are weekly screaming at doormen because of safety risks like transients roaming the elevators and hallways due to poor lobby security.

There is extremely high renter turnover due to dis-satisfaction with the building, so expect CONSTANT construction noise on all sides and above and below at all hours of the day starting at 7:30 am and into the evening. (We should have believed all the construction and noise warnings we read on Yelp!!)

Half the tenants moved out during Covid because it is impossible to work from home with the constant drilling- and good luck getting your kids to nap at any time of the day.
Advice to owner:
Treat your tenants with respect- and take some action to address these complaints that ALL your tenants are providing about these unacceptable living conditions
Over 2 years ago
Constant noise
Former Tenant
Pros:
Doormen are pleasant and helpful, washer and dryer on every floor, convenient for public transportation
Cons:
There is a large and constant turnover of apartments, and constant noise and dust from the on-going, never ending renovations.
Advice to owner:
Stop doing renovations on vacant apartments...... just charge lower rents instead of trying to make this a luxury building..
Had to leave
Former Tenant
Pros:
Convenient to subway
Cons:
Bad apples made it into building
Half renovated and $$$$, the rest not
Noisy hectic lobby
Advice to owner:
You knew the problems.

Old and Tired
Former Tenant
Pros:
The door people and cleaners were very nice.
Cons:
The management is greedy, low quality repairs, low quality units. They only do 1 year agreements. The cockroaches were out of control.
Amazing Building!
Former Tenant
Pros:
Perfect location!! Literally right outside of the train.
Love the driveway
The walls are really thick, I’ve never heard my neighbors.
Friendly and helpful building staff
Great gym, pool, sauna
Huge apartments with really nice finishes. Balconies are great.
Lobby smells good like they pump something in (I know it’s weird but it’s actually a nice touch)
Package room has dry cleaning
Never had a problem with management, they’ve been very easy to work with!
Cons:
Elevators can take a while if you live on a high floor
Food deliveries are left in the lobby (think this is just a COVID thing though)
Building air gets dry in the winter
Advice to owner:
Hold social events in the back when COVID ends to increase community feel!
