Roasting in the winter
Former Tenant
Pros:
Common areas are kept pretty clean. For instance, they come and vacuum the carpeted areas periodically. The Trash is pretty well-maintained, and they move it to a staging area when it is close to pickup.
The supers have always been nice and responsive.
Cons:
Did not like being in a walkup, but you get what you pay for.
Because it is an old building, you will roast in the winter when the heat is turned on - IF you keep your windows closed. During the winter, I keep both windows nearly wide open to maintain a comfortable temperature.
Second, there is hot water, but it takes 5-10 minutes for hot water to reach you, depending on where you are in relation to the boiler. Sometimes you actually have to budget extra time for a shower/wash dishes because of that. Because of this a ton of water is wasted. As far as I know I haven't been paying for water because of this.
In the summer, there is a built in air conditioning in my unit, which is great, and I'm generally fine.

Cons:
heat is TOO hot (literally 85 degrees + according to my thermometer)
Advice to owner:
reduce heat - too much and not necessary
