It was okay, but I wouldn’t live there again
Former Tenant
Pros:
The laundry room machines worked well and it was easy to pay.
Cons:
The apartments are dated. The super unlocked and came into our apartment without warning. The super and his family were generally rude. A pipe burst and caused a leak in our apartment. It took longer than usual to get our security deposit back. The property managers and people at the leasing office always acted hostile and strange.
Advice to owner:
Don’t allow your employees to come into apartments unannounced. Give security deposits back quickly.

landlord and super are criminals
Former Tenant
Pros:
Huge 2 story apartment. Close to park.
Cons:
Oh, where to begin... The landlord/owner and super are CRIMINALS. They illegally entered my apartment (during an active lease with no missed or late payments) and threw away, destroyed, or stole nearly EVERYTHING I owned--even the vacuum. Luckily I had a doggie cam set up and had video evidence!
When I called the police the landlord lied to them.
When I took them to court the super pretended not to speak English. When they gave him a translator he suddenly did not need one.
The super's wife also stole clothes from the laundry room-- or did her son have my high school football team's T-shirt from a school in a rural part of the south?
The super and his wife routinely harassed my service dog after I repeatedly told them NOT to touch him.
They also smoked INSIDE the building so the hallways reeked and smoke could seep in through the ventilation.
They treated the whole building as if it was their house, which meant it stayed clean but it also meant their whole family would walk around the lobby in their PJs and yell.
The building had cockroaches which is why I took stars off cleanliness.
Advice to owner:
fire super, fire yourself

Worst renting experience
Former Tenant
Pros:
Huge apartment, close to park, elevator, the layout of the apartment was superb as well.
Cons:
The super’s wife treated the laundry room as their mall and would take things she liked. Super would break in and take things. They were also mean to my dog even though it was pet friendly. Mice & roaches were always present.
Advice to owner:
Property owner is a scam artist too! Don’t rent from them. Beware. I had to take them to housing court.

Great Neighborhood-Bad Pest Control
Former Tenant
Pros:
Amazing location and size of apartments!
Cons:
Too many cockroaches! Other neighbors complained of mice as well. They allow smoking in the building and the hallways are carpeted so the hallways smell like smoke.
Advice to owner:
Maintain the building more

Pretty but lots of headaches
Former Tenant
Pros:
Love the neighborhood and spaciousness of my studio. The kitchen remodeling was beautiful
Cons:
Reoccurring leak that wasn’t fixed properly, occasional cock roaches, super could be very rude and mean.
Advice to owner:
Hold the super accountable for his behavior and have things fixed properly

Very good size apartments but not much sunlight and too many cockroaches
Former Tenant
Pros:
Huge unit size, I like the layout of the kitchen being an open floor plan with the living room, windows are quadruple-paned glass so you hear almost zero street noise if you have all four layers down at once. Kitchens have pretty good cabinet space although not much counterspace. Ceilings are very high and large apartments look even larger and more spacious. The brick wall and fake fireplace make these units look beautiful and cozy. The block itself is fairly quiet due to being in such a deserted area. And it’s very nice to be right near the park and the riverfront for those who like to jog or take their dog to the park. It’s also relatively rare to find buildings in this area with an elevator since most of the area is a walk ups. The walls are pretty thick so you don’t hear much from neighbors unless they are being super loud. There is nothing on the block except residences so you are not kept awake by noise from local bars etc. also it’s great that there is a bus that stops right on the corner in front of the building! Another pro is that small dogs are allowed and we have a dog park right nearby!
Cons:
Tons of cockroaches. Even if you get yours exterminated, they still come in from neighbors apartments since not everybody signs up for the exterminator each month! Also since the building allows smoking, the hallways and stairwells reek of smoke and if you have a neighbor smoking, your apartment will reek of cigarettes. Also, many of the units don’t have dishwashers since it is a prewar building.
Advice to owner:
Force all tenants to have the exterminator come to their unit! And put dishwashers in any apartments that don’t have them.
