Top floor Apartment
Former Tenant
Pros:
Very kind landlord. LOTS of space for the money and very nice aesthetic in the apartment. The heat went out last winter and was eventually resolved (after several weeks), but I was provided with a space heater when there was no heat.
Cons:
The owner was very sympathetic to concerns I raised but was slow to respond to fix them. All four skylights leaked and weren’t fixed for the entire year. In rainstorms, the bathroom floor would have about 1/4 inch water to walk through if you weren’t home to put out proper buckets. The dishwasher backed up after one use and was never fixed. There was a LOT of marijuana smoke that came from the other apartments through the walls. Mice got into food in the pantry. There’s a lot of street noise and the backyard neighbors often have late and loud parties. I moved out and have not heard back to multiple inquiries about return of my security deposit, despite the fact I left the apartment cleaner and in better repair than when I moved in.
Advice to owner:
Respond to the tenants with action to alleviate problems.
