No frills uptown building
Former Tenant
Pros:
This is a quiet building managed by Columbia University. No amenities, old appliances and fixtures, everything is basically dorm room quality but things are kept clean and maintenance is available if you need it. You're very much left alone in this building, unlike some other Columbia properties. Will look the other way about non-disruptive things that aren't on the lease, like allowing well-behaved pets or subletting. No frills but no major issues either.
Cons:
It's basic and only a good deal if you work or study at Columbia. The laundry system is a pain in the butt-- purchasing cards that you have to refill, maintenance and service are super slow.
Advice to owner:
Just move to free laundry!

Nice old building, with standard problems.
Former Tenant
Pros:
Has old nyc charm. The roof is a green roof and cool to go explore. Neighbors are respectful older students.
Cons:
Sometimes all the laundry machines are in use at the same time which really sucks. Kitchens were super tiny. The elevator was slow as balls.
Advice to owner:
Lower the rent.
