Worst landlord experience
Former Tenant
Pros:
- Great location - Nice little building - Close to subway and parks
Cons:
- No insulation - extremely cold in colder months - Heat not on enough - Landlord not responsive - Due to being fined landlord increased a rent stabilized lease to the legal rent - $1000 increase to force tenant out because landlord had to pay fines for not providing adequate heat - Multiple tenants fearful of complaining due to fear of being forced out by using legal loopholes (increasing rent to legal rent vs legal regulated and rent stabilized rent) thereby landlord is able to increase rent by 20% vs the amount set by the rent stabilization board (which is much lower, often 0%) - Unethical and illegal practices
