Great building; terrible management
Former Tenant
Pros:
Great neighborhood; clean building with lots of character; elevators and laundry.
Cons:
The superintendents are terrible. They were extremely unresponsive at times. At one point I had sewage spewing out of my bathtub and they took days to send a plumber. Supers enter your apartment without permission and without warning using their own keys; they undertake random, unscheduled inspections and threaten to evict you if the floors aren’t mopped when they enter. One even came into my bedroom WHILE I WAS SLEEPING. The super started painting the apartment WHILE I WAS LIVING IN IT! The supers enter your apartment while you’re out and then leave the door unlocked so that people could steal my stuff. Extremely restrictive rules on the types of furniture you are allowed to have (only the furnishings already in the apartment are allowed). The rent is also ridiculously expensive for the poor quality of the apartment management.
Advice to owner:
Respect your tenants’ privacy.
