Airbnb: Great Place But Must Be Not Allowed
Former Tenant
Pros:
I rented this place via Airbnb and it’s a very satisfactory place to live. Good water pressure, no bugs, no rodents, no noise, and a pretty big place for the price I rented it at. If I recall correctly, I was in a 2-bedroom with a 800sq ft+ living room and decent sized kitchen (not a kitchenette). However, this is a review for living here in 2017. Please look at more recent reviews to determine the quality of living.
Cons:
However, like the other tenant review said, the management must be horrible because when I Airbnbed here, I was met with quite the hostility. I can’t provide any accurate reasoning but the neighbors really didn’t like seeing a stranger (me) suddenly going in and out of the apartment. I’m assuming Airbnbing should not be allowed since I was also told by the host to act like I was a visiting “friend.” (I didn’t know the host at all.)
Advice to owner:
With all of this Airbnb craze, management should really consider whether they’ll allow units be placed on Airbnb and set clear rules on the lease. I’ve felt so misplaced, uncomfortable, and even like a criminal for Airbnbing so many times because it’s obvious the apartments shouldn’t be rented out in this way. For me to have to lie as a guest is just bewildering, and the neighbors obviously know what’s up to see a different face live in the unit next to you every week. They’re not happy.
