Beyond a Bad Landlord! A Pattern of Predatory Harassment and Retaliation
Pros
The physical apartment was decent upon move-in. The building is in a fairly convenient location (several blocks away from closest subway station entrance). That is the only positive thing I can say.
Cons
Illegal entry into my apartment by staff (proven by video). Gross negligence leading directly to theft of my personal property. Systematic harassment and public humiliation during move-out. Retaliation, including making false allegations to the NYPD, when I asserted my rights. Discriminatory behavior. Fraudulent and illegal financial practices, including withholding security deposit and attempting to collect a non-existent debt after I moved out.
It's A Home
Pros
This is my first NYC apartment. The management company is responsive and helpful whenever I need something but is otherwise hands off and minds their own business. The common areas are kept reasonably clean.
Cons
The apartment unit itself isn't much to look at. There are some projects I'd love to undertake like painting but I don't own the unit so I don't want to put a bunch of time and money into it.
Advice to the owners
Paint the units neater between tenants.
