Do not Rent with Fairstead
Former Tenant
Pros:
The neighborhood is great
Cons:
The management is awful and will never deliver a timely response / fix any repairs.

Great neighbors horrible managment
Former Tenant
Pros:
Everyone in the building is really nice
Cons:
Managment is unresponsive and unavailable. Drastically increased our rent. There are constantly maintenance issues and the managment refuses to respond. It takes months of contacting them to get anything done.
Advice to owner:
Being a property owner isn’t a job. Stop being a leach off of people with real jobs.

not a great place for a young female
Former Tenant
Pros:
near riverside park and good food in the area
Cons:
management was terrible, unresponsive, and difficult to work with. our gas got shut off unexpectedly and they made minimal attempt to rectify the situation. front door lock didn't work almost all the time so anyone off the street could enter the building. not the safest neighborhood and the neighbors were always loud.
Advice to owner:
get your shit together, if the proper safety protocols were put in place this actually might be a nice place to live.

Fix up older apartments
Former Tenant
Pros:
I like the ppl in the building every is very friendly
Cons:
It’s so hard to reach management if your a long time apartment holder
Advice to owner:
Have a easy number to access ppl for fixes in the apartment and stop forcing long time renters to live in messed up conditions

Not the best, would prob pass
Former Tenant
Pros:
Newly renovated apt so looked nice (although very cheaply done)
In unit laundry
Not to far from subway
Good restaurants near by
Large bedrooms
Cons:
Building owner (Andrew) is horrible, we had our ceiling leak excessive amounts of water at least three times. One time it was pouring through our electrical box and when I called the owner his response was “are you aware it is a Friday night...how did you get this number...it’s not not safe...” like ok sorry to bother you while you’re out to dinner, but water going through an electrical box is NOT SAFE. Also there was a hole in our bathroom ceiling when we went to view the apt that we were told would be fixed... lived for two years with the hole, it was patched once but fell shortly after while my roommate was showering and they never fixed it again. Also the neighborhood is super loud blasting music at all hours of the night. Also if your room faces the alley there is a huge flood light that basically makes it daytime in your room always. Additionally it get really hot in the winter as there is no control over the heat but that is typical of old nyc radiators.
Advice to owner:
Put yourself in your tenants shoes, have a heart and some empathy, fix major issues for real don’t just bandaid them as they will keep happening.
