The Worse Experience Ever.
Former Tenant
Pros:
I would pay more to be respected like an adult and a customer not like someone just happy to get a place.
Cons:
I am removing emotion from the situation and sticking to the actual predatory practices some which may actually be considered crimes.

# 1 - When upgrading from one room to multiple rooms I reached out to one of Artifact Living Company’s Founding Partners Geoff Bartakovics in order to confirm our new rent, to get an updated lease and also to inquire about improvements after seeing the condition of the cellar unit we added on brining the monthly rent from an original $1,500 to $5,000. He responded with a price different from the one we original agreed on. This was a HUGE red flag so I addressed it via text message. Geoff replied with a threat. Please see the threat attached to this email. I replied via text then called immediately. When I asked him about the threat he replied “Why do you keep bringing that up? Worry about your fucking staff.”

#2 Geoff agreed to negotiate a long term lease with us after we made improvements to the unit. There was an exposed toilet with fecal matter and fumes we could smell in addition to a large whole in the ceiling. When I emailed them to ask for more time after seeing the condition and getting quotes for repairs. Geoff simply replied via email that he was “confounded” and that I needed to call him. I did and I also emailed him there was no reply. Please see video and image attached of the units condition in question.

#3 Javier (the buildings other founder) and their staff enter my units multiple times without my permission. They even removed a lock from one of my doors leaving my items exposed to the other tenants. When I brought this up nothing was done regarding the situation and I noticed even more red flags so began to strategize in case they attempted an illegal eviction.

#4 Javier emailed me 3 days ago after working to get our space ready to launch - and raising funds from the community to offer FREE weekly classes in a community that NEEDS THIS RESOURCE…Javier emailed me saying we have 30 days to leave because they decided to have the building demolished. The lease clearly states we are allowed 90 days. Please help us.
Advice to owner:
Pay the extra money for employees to do customer service instead of doing it yourself because you have a “short temper”
