Compromises made to live here
Former Tenant
Pros:
-Quiet side street -Renovated apartments -New elevator -2 blocks from the subway -Exterminator comes once a month
Cons:
-The heat is kept very low, need portable heaters in the winter -Trash piles up in the trash rooms -The laundry area is very dirty and smells -The washers and dryers are often out of order -The cabinets are falling apart and I live in a renovated apartment -Mail goes missing
Advice to owner:
-Increase the heat in the winter!!!!!!! -Increase the heat in the winter!!!!!!! (twice because it bears repeating) -Improve trash cleanup/cleanliness -Keep the laundry room clean -Upgrade the washers and dryers -Add a quarter machine to the laundry room
Loud and mostly older tenants throughout. We had no heat or hot water for several months through the winter. Leaky radiators. Garbage chutes on every floor but they get so full that the room just overfills with garbage.
Advice to owner:
Actually fix the problems in your building, you won’t keep tenants by just giving units a facelift.
