Roach infestation
Former Tenant
Pros:
How close it was to the train but that's about it.
Cons:
I lived in this building a year and a half. It was my first apartment after college so I was super excited to be on my own. First it was a 4 floor walk up. The 2nd floor smelled like garbage or a dead body all the time. There was roaches all over the kitchen, which we did not realize when we went to go see the apartment. Only after moving in did we see the roach infestation coming from the sink. The building is old and run down, it should be torn down and rebuilt.

Responsive management, horrible neighbors
Former Tenant
Pros:
Secure, good virtual doorman system, packages rarely stolen. Management portal was easy to use and the maintenance requests were pretty responsive.
Cons:
We had lived in our unit for 2 years when COVID hit. In April, during the peak of COVID in 2020 for NYC, our lease renewal came back at a much higher rent. We had asked to negotiate considering we were good, on time tenants, but they didn’t agree. We ended up moving out to a nicer apartment with more amenities for less than what we were paying. A few months later we checked back on Street East and noticed that our unit was still listed and now for well below what we had been paying. It was a sweet apartment, but not worth the price they were asking. Too bad because we would have loved to have stayed there and not moved during a pandemic.
