It was cheap rent but very poorly maintained as evident by the it burning down

Pros:
The rent was cheap, it had a dishwasher and. Washer dryer in the unit and two bathrooms which is almost unheard of in Manhattan
Cons:
The common stairway is disgusting and always smells like weed. The security of the building is so lousy it’s almost negligent. My roommates and I had almost 3,000 dollars in shipments stolen because the building doesn’t have a secure front door. Lastly, the electrical wiring was horrible and resulted in a building that unfortunately resulted in a residents death. Overall this building could have been great but instead it was horrible to live in for us and deadly for others

Pros:
The neighbors and surrounding community is good. Also maintenence requests are fullfilled within the week as long as you submit via the online portal. Pet friendly
Cons:
-In the first couple months of living here, we went without heat and hot water 3 times in Nov/Dec. Took multiple days to fix every time. Hasn't happened since tho.
- In Feb there was an electrical fire on the 4th floor. Its now Aug and the 4th floor is still covered in ash and they have not fixed the window in the stairwell that got ruined during the fire.
- Ongoing roach problem! Building has done little to fix it. They have sent exterminators maybe 3 times in the past year when this is ongoing.
-Packages easily stolen, especially during holidays. I've gotten hundreds-worth stolen. Building did nothing about it.
-Garbage in lobby under the stairs for the past month if not longer. Actively smells.
Advice to owner:
Do SOMETHING to prevent stolen packages, get more frequent exterminators, fix the 4th floor.

Pros:
The size of the rooms are great! This truly was a great first apartment in the city!
Cons:
I wish there was a window in the living room--it feels like I'm living in a basement even though I'm living on the second floor. The pest control service is okay, but have forgot to come back even though my roommates and I were all home.

Love the neighborhood

Pros:
The neighborhood is great. Very close to the subway, nice restaurants, bodegas, coffee shops, wine store, etc. within very close distance. The super is nice and pretty responsive.
Cons:
The building is old but nice. Not the most secure. Packages get stolen sometimes. Heat is an issue. Stopped working in the middle of winter one year then was boiling hot once it was fixed. Issues with pests in the winter (need to call the super to spray down the apartment every few months). Neighbors are nice and the apartments are maintained well enough.
