Cute place with character
Pros
The super, who lives on the first floor, is very nice and responsive. Elevator building. Lovely neighbors, one of whom takes care of all the plants outside while another plays the harp beautifully. Landlord replaced my oven when it wasn’t working after I moved in and sent an exterminator when I saw a single bug, which fixed the problem permanently. Maintenance came quickly and fixed all of my problems, even snaking drains. The building is old, so each apartment certainly has character to it, which I like. No gentrification gray over here! Heat goes on right at 55° outside and usually doesn’t get too hot. The walls are oddly strong? So I can hang things on the wall without anchors (I consider this a pro).
Cons
EDIT: I have been fighting with the landlord for weeks now trying to get my security deposit back. They seem intent on swindling me out of it by being non-responsive and by fabricating information. I will be filing a complaint with the Attorney General to get it back if I have to! Water pressure on the 6th floor in the shower could’ve been better. Boiler maintenance shuts off heat and hot water for a few hours a couple times each winter. Shapes of the apartments aren’t perfect squares. Landlord often doesn’t reply to emails, but still gave me a good reference letter for my next place.
Advice to the owners
Respond to emails faster, give back security deposits, and upgrade the boiler please!
