Pros:
I've lived in this building my whole life. It's a nice, older-style building. Things are kept up pretty well, and the current superintendent, here since around 2006, and his entire family, are just super lovely and responsible people. Currently, the tenants are a really nice mix of ages/ethnicities, etc. A few years ago I was leery of the direction things were going, but this seems to have improved, with continued additions of lovely young families. The building is about 2 blocks away from the A train, 1.5 blocks from Broadway, near stores, and a short walk from the 1 train.
Cons:
The building is located at the foot of both an outdoor staircase and a long, steep hill, with the result being much noise--it's a through street, and bikers, etc. go racing down the hill sometimes. It doesn't bother me, I'm used to it, but it is a thing.
Crime is also a concern--someone recently tried getting into the lobby overnight by physically removing the lock plate from the door. The lock was strong enough and held, and the plate has been repaired. The mail room is now locked overnight to prevent package theft.
Advice to owner:
More washing machines in the laundry room would be appreciated--we started off with 3, briefly had 4, now are down to 2. On the flip side, some upgrades have been made, such as setting a cement block underneath them.
