Probably cheap rent and that’s it
Former Tenant
Pros:
Proximity to the 1 train Proximity to the metro north Target is across the street Neighborhood is relatively quiet most of the time
Cons:
The building is not clean The super doesn’t seem to care about maintaining the building’s cleanliness THE ELEVATOR - a legitimate safety hazard; it randomly abruptly stops between floors occasionally. People have also gotten stuck and needed the firefighters to come get them out No amenities - you’ll need to drag your laundry to the laundromat a few blocks away
Advice to owner:
Replace the elevator and the super

2 marble hill
Former Tenant
Pros:
Having Elevator accessibility
Cons:
Rat infestation, poor heat supply. Elevator barley works. It takes 3 minutes to get to your floor and there are only 6 floors. Elevator often jams up on random floors for about 15 seconds. Basement is rat infested.
Advice to owner:
Finding a super who genuinely cares

You’ll definitely see rats when you put the garbage out
Former Tenant
Pros:
Many Neighbors are courteous and friendly.
Cons:
Can’t throw garbage out without risking rat encounter. So people leave the garbage where it doesn’t belong, for fear of a rat bite, and that brings more rats.
Advice to owner:
Gat rid of the rats. Clean up the garbage every day. It’s a vicious cycle and only the Landlord getting rid of the rats will stop this problem!

I’ll forever have nightmares
Former Tenant
Pros:
The heat worked too well, a sauna during the winter months. Close to the 1 train and the metro north. No other pros.
Cons:
Dirty and loud. The elevator has been through so many repairs and replacements and is still scary and questionable. The longer you live there the less they care about you and the maintenance of your apartment. I fear the place will collapse with all the cracks in the ceilings, walls, especially via apartment connected heat pipes and an old garbage shoot system they’ve left barely closed up/covered in some kitchens. Because of this there are pest throughout and even if you don’t have mice IN the apartment you can very much hear them in the walls. Garbage is dumped and maintained in the atrium of the apartment so not only do the machine sounds travel up through the middle but so does the smell, so don’t think about using the inside windows. Some neighbors are nice and have been there for years but others are loud and stay up tillage am’s blasting music and hanging out in the hallways.
Advice to owner:
More professional help is needed to maintain this building, and I’d recommend it quick before things get slightly worse and the whole thing goes down, figuratively or(unfortunately) literally.
