Smoke shop central- resident nightmarr
Former Tenant
Pros:
Cheap rent, spacious 2 bedroom apartment
Cons:
Drug dealers constantly on the stoop and in and out of the building. Annoying to interact with and I’m pretty sure the management company is benefiting from it. Nice people but it’s obnoxious at this point. Because of this the door is constantly busted and anyone can get into the building. It’s always a concern leaving since you don’t know who’s in the building.
Disastrous mouse problem and pest issues
Packages are not safe, constantly stollen. Or destroyed
Noisy and disrespectful neighbors. The folks on the 4th floor by the stairs constantly have domestic disputes. Kids are riding their scooters and dribbling their basketballs in the hallway. Parties and music loud into the late hours of the night, up to 2 or 3 in the morning. Dogs pee and poop in the hall. People are in and out who don’t live in the building and if you ask them to be quiet they’ll start a fight with you. Oh, and when you come home you’ll be greeted by a cloud of weed smoke because the losers and degenerates in the building smoke up all day in the hallways.
Lazy super and workers who work for him, repairs take months to get done, and that’s only if you harass management and the super. You can’t get through on the phone to chestnut holdings, they are the worst management company.
Hallways are FILTHY. They have someone come By once a week and mop the floor with dirty water with absolutely no purpose or real effort to make things clean. It doesn’t help that people treat the stairway like their own personal garbage can. Hallways constantly stink of old food.
Don’t be fooled by the low rent and RUNj
Advice to owner:
Clean up the building, enforce the policies you claim you have at lease signing and care about the safety of your tenants and better yet- maybe just give up and stop being a company because all your buildings are TRASH. Chestnut Holdings is THE WORST. The loathe of NYC!

Cleanliness, structure, size.
Advice to owner:
Clean up the building, paint window sills in stairwells, fix stairwells, fix sloping floors, fix pipes, clean, clean, clean more, install working cameras.
