The Landlords are Terrible

Pros:
The Super Marcelo is EXCELLENT. Quick to help you if it was something he was able to do. The only blips in his service was when he needed the landlords approval for anything.
My kitchen was really nice and lots of storage, however first 9 months I lived there we had no gas so they gave us a hot plate and called it even.
Cons:
Heating was either too hot or nonexistent.
Water took at least 15-20 minutes to heat up regardless of the time of year.
Anytime they did renovations on an apartment we would be invaded by ants, roaches and/or mice.
Building intercom and buzzer was destroyed July 2019 and was never fixed. This was extremely frustrating because the USPS postal service for this neighborhood was notoriously terrible even when they could buzz us.
Landlords are receiving a J-51 tax credit for this building, which is only valid if 100% of the units are rent stabilized and we were not. Have been part of a class action suit against landlords for this since 2016.
As stated above, had no gas for 9 months of my first year living in the building and we weren’t given any rent concessions, just a cheap, hot plate that couldn’t boil water and refused to hear anything on the matter if we brought anything up.
Shortly after moving in they renovated the building. Missed work because they took out the stairs one day without notice and we couldn’t leave our floors.
They’ve regularly lost checks and lease renewals as well, if you live here ensure you ONLY pay through their online service or literally pay them in person and get a receipt. Keep copies of everything.
Advice to owner:
Be more responsive, actually fix problems when tenants bring them up and stop doing illegal things with leases. You’re being sued by a class action suit for a reason.
