Spacious for NYC but thin walls
Former Tenant
Pros:
Great price for 2 bedroom in NYC, updated appliances and safe building.
Cons:
I'd heard the walls were thin before we moved in but didn't think much about it. Spent the last 6 months we lived there forced to listen to the people above us have sex because the walls and ceilings were so thin...

Stuy town apt
Former Tenant
Pros:
Utilities included only need to pay AC rental. Nice view of river if east facing apt. In building washer dryers are usually at least two free
Cons:
A bit far from train station. Old building and small hallway. Had a cockroach issue after they did mandatory new gas pipe installment

Former Tenant
Pros:
Love that electricity is included in the rent, along with heat and hot water. I'm a single mother with a teen daughter and we ALWAYS feel safe in our neighborhood. This is the perfect place to raise a family. There's always something going on in the community but unfortunately, I can never take advantage since I'm too busy. Also, I've never seen a pest or rodent in all my years of living here...thank GOD!
Cons:
My only complaint is that the laundry room can be a pain since there are only a handful of washers and dryers in every building. You have to choose an off-peak time during the week to do your laundry.
Advice to owner:
I wish the rent were more affordable :( I

StuyTown living
Former Tenant
Pros:
Access to beautiful area. Utilities included. Laundry in building. Maintenance requests hotline done in timely manner. Private public safety and blue light system. Multiple ways to pay rent (bank account/check/online) decent room size. Family community and plenty of kind people. Many outdoor activity spots with fountain, basket ball courts, plenty of trees, movie nights, cafe on spot, ice skating in winter and on site gym.
Cons:
Very expensive apartments. COVID dropped prices $700 on price and you cannot renegotiate your lease until it is expired. Walls are thin, getting out of lease is near impossible and need to pay 2x month’s rent to leave and they keep security deposit. Management heavily disorganized. Black stone owns the property and uses beam living as their property management Service. If you want extra amenities (study lounge, gym kids babysitting area) you will need to pay through the nose.
Advice to owner:
Work with your tenants to provide rent negotiation even when they are in the middle of a lease. Have a program for tenants to mingle with each other.
Other than that, keep up the fantastic work!
