Stuytown Review - Great Place to Live
Former Tenant
Pros:
Great community that’s rent stabilized with plenty of shared outdoor space. Really enjoyed living there for 3 years and had no problems with Stuytown. Maintenance overall was pretty responsive, with a couple minor delays for things that weren’t a big deal - anything that we needed help with immediately they addressed right away.
Cons:
We had a 4 bedroom that had a small living space and small kitchen. We new what we were getting into, so really on us, but definitely be conscious of the layout of your apartment.
Advice to owner:
None

Good not great
Former Tenant
Pros:
Nice community, big bedrooms
Cons:
Walls are extremely thin, loud neighbors. Management and maintenance are not as reliable anymore. Did not help me when a neighbor threatened me and usually wait about a month for maintenance issues
Advice to owner:
Stop cutting costs

Cozy home in Stuytown
Former Tenant
Pros:
Green space outside!
Cons:
Junior 2 bedrooms do not have a window in living room. Designed for roommates vs. families.
Advice to owner:
Windows for light in living rooms.

Great starter apartment
Former Tenant
Pros:
Management was very responsive and quick with any repairs/issues, great laundry room, water/electricity included, amazing outdoor green space
Cons:
Definitely expensive for the space, noise levels were sometimes high depending on your neighbor

Stuyvesant Town
Former Tenant
Pros:
Well maintained, friendly neighbors and fairly quiet. Also, the concierge for the development is located in the building, which makes Amazon returns easy as you can drop off packages there. You must exit the building, however, in order to enter the concierge space. Management is excellent and apartment maintenance requests are addressed quickly.
Cons:
Walls are thin so if your neighbors are noisy, it can be a problem. Cell phone reception is fair and calls are lost occasionally.
Advice to owner:
Keep up the good work!

Lovely Stuytown Building
Former Tenant
Pros:
Friendly and clean. Easy to get to 1st ave but barely any street noise
Cons:
Lots of young students and recent grads having parties
Advice to owner:
Crackdown on the loud parties etc

Good apartment overall
Former Tenant
Pros:
Great location. Right by the east village so near a ton of restaurants. Close to the L train and Union Square subway station. Lots of families, feels like its own little neighborhood in the city. Resident Services is very responsive. Generally no major issues but whenever small things come up like a clogged shower, maintenance will always come in a timely manner to fix it.
Cons:
It’s an old building so the walls are very thin. Pipes can get loud occasionally in the winter, and since management manages the temperature, sometimes it can be too hot and other times it will be too cold.

Former Tenant
Pros:

Cons:
Plumbing is old, central heating
Advice to owner:
None to provide

10 years in Stuytown
Former Tenant
Pros:
New features and very quiet. Huge bedrooms for Manhattan and lots of storage.
Cons:
Can hear everything your neighbors do. Had an ongoing issue with bathroom leaks for years that was never resolved.
Advice to owner:
Better advantages to long term tenants
